Lead Teaching Pastor
I was born into the family of a small town pastor in central Illinois in the late 70s. When I was three we moved to Pennsylvania, where my father pastored churches through my senior year of high school. I attended Messiah College near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and studied pedagogy, writing and literature. After spending two years teaching high school, I spent the next decade as a traveling musician and a graphic designer. In the midst of travelling I met my wonderful wife Kristen in Dallas, Texas.
We moved to Dallas in 2007 and shortly after having our second child I sensed the strong call of the Lord into vocational ministry. I began serving as a Missions Pastor in Plano, Texas in 2012 where I was blessed to serve the local influx of immigrants to the city through the development of a community centre.
In 2016, Kristen and I sensed a new calling to Vancouver, BC to serve here at IBC and its mission to minister to the needs of an extremely diverse city. Since we have moved to Vancouver we have fallen in love with the outdoors and the constant reminders of our God’s amazing creation.
Kristen and I have three children, Les, May and Henry who are beautiful testaments of God’s providence. We are thankful for each of their unique personalities and how they each have been gifted by our God.
I am constantly relieved, challenged and encouraged by the Holy Spirit’s inspired words from the apostle Paul to Timothy in 1 Timothy 1:5 – The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. While I am a work of our Lord in progress, I am overwhelmed by the privilege to serve His church for His truly epic and eternal purposes.
My hope for IBC is that it would be a gathering that treasures Christ and is giddy about the opportunity to reflect His love to our neighbourhoods.
