Next Gen Pastor
My name is Brendon (pronounced Brennan) and I was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, but spent most of my childhood overseas as a missionary kid in Malaysia. As a result I love trying new foods, experiencing new cultures, and learning random words in different languages. I met my wife, Michal Ann, in Indonesia and we have two beautiful children, Olivia Joy and Titus Steven. Before coming to IBC, I was working on my Master’s of Divinity degree at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with plans to go on mission to Japan. God then had His way with us and in June of 2015 we made the 45 hour drive from Raleigh, North Carolina to Vancouver, beautiful British Columbia! Since our first Sunday meeting with our church family, God has continued to show us how much He loves His people at IBC and how He desires to reach the nations through places like Vancouver.
My favourite sport to watch is hockey and my favourite sport to play is football (soccer). I pretend to play the guitar and sing but most enjoy listening to others. Even though Indian food is my favourite type of food, my favourite restaurant is still McDonalds. I enjoy a good anime every once in a while as well as playing video games with our young people.
A verse that has defined much of my life and the way I pursue ministry is definitely Romans 12:1-2: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will”(NIV). It’s a popular passage but one that has motivated me in times of disappointment, regret, and even contentment. His will is always good, always pleasing, and always perfect.
