What We Believe
The Bible is the ultimate source of authority for what we believe and how we live our lives. We believe is in the inspired written record of God’s plan of redemption for humanity and without error. Though opinions and values change, the Bible remains the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds and religious opinions should be tried.
We believe there is only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal being, and is the creator, redeemer, preserver, and ruler of the universe. He is infinite in holiness and all other perfections; He is all powerful and all knowing; and His knowledge extends to all things: past, present, and future. To Him we owe the highest affection, the greatest reverence, and the fullest obedience. God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
God the Father
We believe that God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is Father to those who become His children through faith in Jesus Christ.
God the Son
We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the Virgin Mary. We believe He was fully God, who took upon himself human form, lived without sin, and paid for our sins through His death on the cross. We believe He has risen from the grave to secure for us the hope of heaven, and that He is the only means to salvation.
God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. He inspired men to write the thoughts that have been preserved in the Bible. He enables us to understand truth, and He exalts Christ. He convicts us of sin, He calls us to Jesus, and He effects regeneration. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and gives gifts by which we serve God and our city. He lives in every believer and is the guarantee that God will bring him or her into the fullness of the stature of Christ. We believe God has created all of us on purpose and for one just one purpose: to know Him and to make Him known to all nations.
